I urge you to stay away from this company at all costs! My mom purchased her Hoveround in June of 2024 and was told they don't do extended warranties. She is disabled and this chair is her only means of mobility. The chair stopped working last week in July 2026. It is 2 years old and we are being told it needs 2 batteries and 2 motors. She doesn't use the chair enough for it to need 2 motors already. I understand batteries, but 2 motors after only 2 years?! She has been in and out of the hospital all this past year so the chair does not have a lot of wear and tear at all. Long story short- $1800 to repair!!!!! The diagnostic was done over the phone. I asked about a tech coming out to make sure and was told it would be $145 for the service call. Ok fine. Better to know for sure than waste money unnecessarily, right? Oh wait! Once the parts come and the tech comes to repair the chair, it'll be another $145 service fee!!!! WHAT!? I have had many service calls/repairs on appliances, electronics, etc. and not one of these other companies have ever charged me twice. As a matter of fact, they usually take the service fee and deduct it from the total cost. On top of that they said the customer is responsible for shipping costs. Shipping was $60 for just the batteries. Each motor costs $700!!! Talk about a rip off. Taking advantage of our most vulnerable citizens- the elderly and disabled! These people are on fixed incomes and to have to pay $1800 to repair a much-needed piece of equipment that gives many of them their only piece of independence is awful. My mother's chair was not covered by insurance and was a financial burden to purchase, but now only 2 years later another costly repair. Hoveround is nickel and diming their customers. How could an extended warranty not be offered? I can buy a toaster from Walmart and get offered an extended warranty at checkout. I won't even discuss the long wait times to speak to customer service! I do not recommend Hoveround unless covered by insurance!
