5 Basic Power Wheelchair Parts

Electric wheelchairs all have certain parts and basic features in common.

Whether it's a bariatric power chair designed with a wider, reinforced frame, or a standard motorized wheelchair prescribed with accessories for specific mobility needs, all are essentially equipped with the following five components1:

  • Electric Motor or Motors
  • Motorized Drive Configuration
  • Batteries
  • Tires and Wheels
