Design & Engineering

We build innovative electric wheelchairs and electric scooters that fulfill our customers unique mobility needs. We've been doing it for over 15 years, so we've learned a thing or two.

First, build to last. Hoveround electric wheel chairs are tested in the most severe conditions. They meet the most rigorous testing standards including Rehabilitation Engineering and Assistive Technology Society of North America (RESNA) and International Standard Organization (ISO) wheelchair standards. (RESNA and ISO testing standards are recognized both in the United States and internationally.) All that testing pays off for our customers.

Second, don't cut corners. Every single Hoveround part that goes into our electric wheel chairs is selected for maximum quality and assembled in the U.S.A. For example, we construct the entire wheelchair frame ourselves from raw steel to ensure the foundation of our electric wheelchairs is as strong and durable as possible. In addition, the machining, welding and final inspection all takes place in our Sarasota, FL factory so we know the foundation of our electric wheel chairs is the highest possible quality.

Third, design for maximum maneuverability, comfort and support. This has been our claim to fame from the beginning. We are always refining our electric wheel chair design to give you the very best mobility.

  Our MPV 5's round design lets you move easily around furniture, narrow hallways and in and out of small bathrooms and kitchens. You can also turn quickly and drive through narrow doorways without worrying about damaging doorframes. Other electric wheel chairs with square designs limit your maneuverability and freedom. They can also damage your furniture, walls and doors.
• 2. Exceptional Seat Comfort
  Hoveround electric wheelchair seats are engineered for your maximum comfort and support. Our Pressure Relief System seat uses inner springs that move with your body and provide long-term support. Our seat is also surrounded by pressure-relieving foam for exceptional comfort lumbar and low back support. Other companies' seats are made of plywood with thin foam on top. It may seem comfortable initially, but the foam will compress over time leaving little material between you and the plywood. On the other hand, our Pressure Relief System delivers long-term comfort and lumbar support.
